THERMALOOP

Documentation of Thermaloop installation
Thermaloop was an installation that had a 300 cm long, 120 cm wide SCOBY (Symbiotic Culture Of Bacterial Yeast) of about 200 kilos being slowly lifted and rolled around a drum at the top point of a custom-made mechanism. After reaching the top point, the action would slowly reverse and put the SCOBY back in its growth tank, a loop which about 15 minutes.
The mechanism was developed with the help of Robert McLeod and Andrew Dixon.
Thermaloop was shown at my solo exhibition 'Residual Yeast' which happened at Gossamer Fog in 2023. It was written about in Art Monthly and Flash Art, and was critics pick in Art Forum.
Thanks to the Canada Council for the Arts, and the the Arts Council England for funding put toward the installation.
