Documentation of Thermaloop installation

Thermaloop is an installation that has a 200 kilo, 120 x 300 cm SCOBY (Symbiotic Culture Of Bacterial Yeast) slowly lift out of its tank and roll around a drum at a high point supported by a surrounding metal structure. The 15 minute looped action then reverses, placing the SCOBY back into its growth tank.

The mechanism was developed with the help of Robert McLeod and Andrew Dixon.

Thermaloop was shown in the solo exhibition 'Residual Yeast' which happened at Gossamer Fog in 2023. It was written about in Art Monthly and Flash Art, and was critics pick in Art Forum.

Thanks to the Canada Council for the Arts, and the the Arts Council England for funding put toward the installation.
