Thermaloop was an installation in which a 200-kilo, 120 x 300 cm SCOBY (Symbiotic Culture Of Bacterial Yeast) slowly lifted out of its tank and rolled around a drum at a high point, supported by a surrounding metal structure. The 15-minute looped action then reversed, placing the SCOBY back into its growth tank.

Thermaloop was shown in the solo exhibition 'Residual Yeast' which happened at Gossamer Fog in 2023. It was written about in Art Monthly, Flash Art and was critics pick in Art Forum.

Special thanks to the Canada Council for the Arts and the Arts Council England for providing funding for the installation and to Robert McLeod and Andrew Dixon for their contributions to the development of the mechanism
