*~gAmE*oF*lIfE~* was an installation made in a corner office at Goldsmiths University for the Gold X show. The installation consisted of an audio recording of Vicki (a computerised voice) reciting Andrea Hlywa's story of conception. Andrea attempted to have children for 10 years and during those years, she had three miscarriages which was hard on both her mind and body. The pressure to conceive pushed Andrea to continue trying, and eventually she was successful, crediting both God and a fantastic doctor.
The installation consisted of numerous common place vessels (pots, mugs, buckets, ziplocs, ect.) which were filled with SCOBY, or a Symbiotic Culture of Bacterial Yeast. SCOBY's grow fleshy and thick as a layer on a fermenting fluid, taking to the shape of each of the vessels. They were lit periodically by a mirror ball which hung above them.
